March 2017: Hungarian Customs and Tax Authority Fines Hungarian Citizen for Trademark Infringement

On or about January 10, 2017, Hungarian Customs seized various capacity microSD memory cards being imported into the country by a local citizen. SD-3C LLC ("SD-3C") then filed a complaint against the individual for trademark infringement.

According to the final decision rendered by the Bács-Kiskun County Customs Office, the individual was found guilty of infringing SD-3C's intellectual property rights. As a result, the individual was required to pay a fine of HUF 89,588 (€290.00/$324.00) or, as an alternative, undertake 18 hours of community service.

Further, the Customs Office confiscated the counterfeit microSD memory cards for destruction.

SD-3C LLC is dedicated to the enforcement and protection of its intellectual property rights (IPR), and vigilantly protects its IPR from unauthorized use around the world.
